Week 2 - 3: The Purpose of Your Senses

Today, we will touch on two things: the Spirit, and the senses - as well as the purpose of the two in relation to each other.

When you are a child, one of the very first things you learn about is your five senses. The senses that you are taught are your sense of smell, taste, sight, hearing, and touch. There are more senses, but today we will focus on those five. There is a sixth sense which scientists call a brain; most people say intuition, but the Spiritual Person calls it the Spirit.

Your Spirit is the chief or the master of the five senses. The senses act as channels to the Spirit. We do not see with our eyes; our eyes are a channel to the Spirit to allow us to perceive the world around us. That is why we can look with our eyes, but we don't pick up on anything in particular if your Spirit isn't familiar with or knows what it is looking for.

For example: If you have lived with others as a point in your life, you've heard footsteps throughout the house. Without seeing them, you know exactly who the person walking is. This is because through repetition of the person walking throughout the house, that your sense of hearing has retained the vibration of that person's steps, and your Spirit in return has kept that information. Your senses act as an alert system to your Spirit, where your Spirit then goes into the file folders of experiences that you have, and knows whether or not you are familiar with the situation.

That is why the Spiritual person bases their life on their senses, and not their emotions. Your senses are a logical and stable way of viewing and responding to the world. Whereas your emotions are based on how you feel about a situation, person, or circumstance - which can change, depending on how you are feeling at the moment.

If you are seeking to be more Spiritual, prioritize harmonizing all of your senses, and rely less on your emotions.

We encourage discussion on how you understand our daily offering of Spiritual Knowledge.
