In yesterday's Spiritual Knowledge Series we explained, "What is a Houngan Makout?" Today, we are defining a Houngan Asogwe.
As we spoke about, a Houngan Makout is a Houngan with a bitasyon, with roots and with reference. A Houngan Asogwe is a Houngan with guidance. He seeks a guide or mentor to initiate him, to train him and introduce him to the Spiritual world. With that training he can learn specific pass codes to instruct the Spirits to accomplish certain tasks. A Houngan Asogwe isn't chosen by any Lwa. He is a person who seeks out the spirits and is trained to be in that position. Whereas a Houngan Makout is chosen and claimed by the Lwa of his bitasyon. (If your Mother and Father don't have Lwa, then where do you get that Gede from?)
Everyone has a reference, in order to be in a position - someone or something must put you there.
We encourage discussion on how you understand our daily offering of Spiritual Knowledge.
