Week 1 - 5: What is a Manbo Asogwe?

As In yesterday’s Spiritual Knowledge Series we explained, “What is a Manbo Makout?” Today, we are defining a Manbo Asogwe.

As the Houngan Asogwe seeks a mentor to guide and initiate him, is in the same way a Manbo Asogwe gets her title. She goes through a certain process of Konzo to be given certain knowledge and passcodes to communicate with nature and Spirits. As a Manbo Makout has a bitasyon and reference, a bitasyon meaning a place where you come from. A Manbo Makout has a bitasyon and a Lwa, and is chosen by her Lwa, whereas a Manbo Asogwe seeks a mentor to go through her process to gain her title.
